The SW 16 skiff is designed to be very stable side to side, and tip to tail, and to float very shallow. Our bottom width is 54", and our beam is 78". We want our boat owners to feel stable when leaning over the gunwale, and to be comfortable navigating obstructions when running under motor. The hull bottom is flat from near the bulk head to the transom with three raised 1" ribs. There is a very shallow "v" on our hull bottom just forward of the bulk head to cut chop.
Designed to be very stable side to side, tip to tail, and to float very shallow.Pictured below drafting in less than 2” with a 4 stroke 30 horse and a guy up front.We want our owners to feel comfortable when leaning over the gunwale netting a State Record, and to be confident navigating shallow rocky waters.The hull bottom is flat from the transom to the bulkhead with three raised 1” ribs for enhanced tracking.Features a very shallow "v" on our hull bottom just forward of the bulk head running forward to the bow to cut chop.Designed to have significant side wall angle moving forward from mid-ship to the bow. This keeps our hull wide for displacement, and stability, and really helps our SW 16 stay dry when running.The spray from bounce, and chop naturally is shed to the side and away. Below is a video of the SW16 running.Our SW 16 skiff gets on plane with a 15 horse, but is challenged to get on plane with a 9.9. (Rated for 40 horse)Expect comfortable running speeds of 20-25 mph with a 25-40 horse outboard, two adults, and gear.The key is keeping the motor weight as close to 200lbs. or less.We recommend a hydrofoil stabilizer on your lower unit to help with lift, and to eliminate any bouncing or porpoising.The SW 16 hull is roto-molded in one piece, so there are no seams, welds, epoxies, glues, bolts, or screws.The SW 16 hull floats upside down, with a hole in her, or cut in half.The proprietary high density polyethylene we use to roto - mold the SW 16 hull is more forgiving when hitting rocks, and other hard objects when compared to aluminum and fiberglass.The SW 16 high density polyethylene hull is very, very quiet when compared to aluminum or fiberglass.The SW 16 boat hull has molded-in universal accessory mounting plates on the front deck, and in the cockpit for quick, and easy plug-n-play options for pedestal seating, benches, gear boxes, leaning posts, grab bars, coolers, raised casting platforms, and pretty much anything else you can dream of.The SW 16 has a molded in rear bench with LOTS of dry storage for required items, and personal gear.Rocks do not scratch the color of the SW16The SW 16 hull's color is compounded into the hdp resin, so our hull color does not scratch when it hits a rock, or a boat dock like gel coated fiberglass, or painted aluminum.The SW16 hull is family friendly. Her shallow drafting hull is designed to be very stable side to side.The "shallow v" shape in our SW16 hull is designed to cut a small chop while under motor on plane while minimizing draft.The SW16 hull shape allows for a very wide range of uses for the fresh, and salt shallow water boater.Our poling platform, different size front decks, rear deck, and oar lock-blade lock option thru-bolt with 5/16-18 stainless hardware, so they are easy to assemble, and remove.The SW16 roto-molded hull construction is a very dog friendly boat.The SW16 polyethylene hull is very easy to clean.The SW16 hull repair process is very straightforward
