il BA 40 Babel è uno sportivo One tonner di 12 metri con timone a barra. Il progetto è del triestino Roberto Starkel, al quale fu richiesto di disegnare le linee di una barca competitiva che rispettasse i canoni della stazza Ior. Questo cabinato ha quindi una larghezza contenuta, slanci accentuati, un pozzetto ben dimensionato e attrezzato per competere tra le boe. La coperta è caratterizzata da una prua sgombra e una tuga bassa e stretta, quasi flush deck, che facilitano il movimento dell’equipaggio. Nonostante l’indole sportiva gli interni sono rifiniti accuratamente, presentano due ampie cabine, una a poppa e una a prua, entrambe con bagno annesso, oltre ad altre tre cuccette nella zona del quadrato. Barca plurivittoriosa ha un ampio corredo di vele da crociera e regata. Motore Volvo 45 hp revisionato.rifatto nel 2024 con trasmissione in linea d'asse e elica a pale abbattibili e serbatoio da 150 l, turbo nuovo. Strumentazione completa con plotter, stazione del vento, eco-log, pilota automatico, buone dotazioni per crociera con gas con forno, boiler, frigorifero, 3 batterie recenti, caricabatterie, doccia in pozzetto, cuscinerie nuove 2023, serbatoi acqua e impianto idraulico nuovi, impianto elettrico revisionato, stereo con casse interne ed esterne,  5 vele di prua crociera e regata, randa regata, randa allenamento-crociera, 5 spinnaker. The BA 40 Babel is a sporty 12-meter One tonner with tiller steering. The project is by Roberto Starkel from Trieste, who was asked to design the lines of a competitive boat that respected the IOR tonnage standards. This cabin cruiser therefore has a limited width, accentuated streamlining, a well-sized cockpit equipped to compete between the buoys. The deck is characterized by an uncluttered bow and a low and narrow deckhouse, almost flush deck, which facilitate the movement of the crew. Despite the sporty nature, the interiors are carefully finished, featuring two large cabins, one aft and one bow, both with en-suite bathrooms, as well as three other berths in the saloon area. A multi-victorious boat, it has a large set of cruising and racing sails. Volvo 45 hp engine overhauled. Rebuilt in 2024 with shaft drive and folding propeller and 150 l tank, new turbo.
