One of Hunter Marine's lovelier designs under 40 feet, this Hunter Legend 35.5 has very spacious accommodations, is very nicely outfitted for Northwest cruising, and has been very nicely maintained, with numerous upgrades over the last five years. It would be very difficult to find more boat in this price range.

Sails & Rigging

  • Stainless steel wire standing rigging (w/ chromed bronze turnbuckles & stainless steel toggles) replaced by Port Townsend Rigging 
  • Mainsheet traveller on coach roof w/ control lines led into the cockpit.
  • Block & tackle boom vang led aft to the cockpit.
  • Internal halyards are led aft to the cockpit.
  • Barient winches include (2) 24ST primaries & (2) 17ST housetop winches for halyards & other control lines.

Mechanical Equipment & Engine Details

 Yanmar 27HP FWC diesel engine installed (1999) w/ light use since.

  • 1" stainless steel prop shaft w/ 3-blade bronze 15 RH 12 prop.
  • Wet-lift exhaust system.
  • RACOR fuel filtering system.
  • Pedestal wheel steering w/ chain & cable to aluminum rudder quadrant.
  • Emergency tiller steering provided; 12V blower for the engine compartment.
  • Thru-hull fittings are bronze below the waterline & plastic above w/ bronze ball valves.
  • Rule 1000gph automatic electric bilge pump in the sump, plus Whale Gusher manual bilge pump in the cockpit.
  • 6-gallon hot water heater w/ AC elements & plumbed to engine heat exchanger

Construction

  • Hand-laid FRP construction w/ end-grain balsa coring in deck & hull.
  • Full-length grid system in hull to add strength & stiffness.
  • Rigging chainplates are anchored to the grid system.
  • Hull-to-deck joint is an outward-turning flange w/ aluminum toe rail and bolted on 6" centers.
  • Bulb-wing lead keel is externally bolted on.
  • Partially balanced spade rudder.
  • Boat dived on regularly for cleaning & zincs.
  • Engine oil changed regularly twice per year in the fall & spring.

  • Basic USCG-required safety gear plus radar reflector & a LifeSling.
  • Bosun's chair; sea anchor; dock steps.
