Ericson 35

Designed by Bruce King the 35-2 was very popular over the 13 year production run of about 600
boats. This Ericson is a round bilge, moulded GRP sailing Sloop with a raked stem, fin keel and
transom stem. The 35-2 has a very strong sheerline, powerful forward with the stem is hollow in
profile. The deckhouse is low in profile, despite the relatively low freeboard of the boat resulting
in a "good" looking boat. A flush foredeck runs aft to a raised main cabin trunk. There is an
escape hatch on the foredeck with windows port, starboard and foreword on the cabin trunk
giving good light below while maintaining a strong deck structure. There is a large sliding main
hatch into the cabin. The good sized cockpit is well laid out with wheel steering and full length
seats over coclapit lockers port, starboard and across the stem. The bridge deck at the cabin
entrance provides protection from down flooding and there are two cockpit scuppers. A reboarding
ladder is permanently fixed to the transom. Below decks there is a fore cabin with a
"V" berth. The vanitythead/shower is to port with stowage and a hanging lockers to starboard.
In the main cabin there is a full length settee berth to starboard and a dinette to port. The galley
stove, sink and ice box/refrigeration are located across to starboard at the aft end of the cabin
with a small nav station and quarter berth extending beneath the cockpit seat to port. The engine
space is almost amidships below the galley extension and settee with good access from various
